ข้อมูลเบื้องต้น : ผึ้งยางไม้ดิสจังต้ามีการกระจายพันธุ์เป็นวงกว้างในแถบเอเชียตะวันออก (Oriental region) สามารถพบผึ้งชนิดนี้ได้บ่อยในบริเวณที่มีพืชตระกูลถั่วขึ้น โดยเฉพาะทุ่งปอเทือง (Crotalaria juncea L.) ผึ้งยางไม้ดิสจังต้ามีการดำรงชีวิตแบบโดดเดี่ยว โดยมีการนำยางไม้มาใช้เป็นวัสดุในการสร้างรังแทนการใช้ไขผึ้ง มักทำรังตามโพรงไม้ ซอกไม้ รังเก่าของแมลง รวมถึงสิ่งก่อสร้างของมนุษย์ เช่น เก้าอี้ไม้ ราวตากผ้าที่ทำจากไม้ไผ่ นอกเหนือจากการเก็บยางไม้ตามธรรมชาติแล้วผึ้งยางไม้ดิสจังต้ายังสามารถขโมยชันจากรังชันโรงเพื่อใช้สำหรับสร้างรังได้เช่นเดียวกัน
ลักษณะเด่น : ป็นผึ้งขนาดกลางที่มีลำตัวมีสีดำ ยกเว้น บริเวณส่วนท้ายของอกและส่วนต้นของท้องที่มีขนสีขาวปกคลุม โครงสร้างเก็บเกสรดอกไม้ตำแหน่งใต้ท้อง (scopa) มีสีดำ ขณะที่เพศผู้จะมีขนาดเล็กกว่า

การกระจายพันธุ์ : สามารถพบได้บ่อยและพบได้ทั่วทุกภูมิภาคของประเทศไทย นอกจากนี้ยังพบในสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน สารธารณรัฐอินเดีย สารธารณรัฐอินโดนีเซีย สาธารณรัฐมาดากัสการ์ ประเทศมาเลเซีย สาธารณรัฐมอริเชียส สารธารณรัฐแห่งสหภาพพม่า เกาะเรอูว์เนียง สาธารณรัฐเซเซลส์
